Hand Reflexology for Reflexologists Workshop (1 day)

Once she had decided to enrol on the ITEC Reflexoloy Course with Teresa Rich from ReflexologyUK.org, it was all system go!

Along with many other students we started her on the ITEC Anatomy and Physiology Studies.

The course was broken down into manageable chunks, and systems put into place for her revision.

GENERAL REVISION TECHNIQUES

Simonne’s revision techniques: * Posters (particularly for more visual learners) – placing diagrams around your house in relevant areas * Voice Recordings – by putting recordings of the lectures onto CDs or your iPod so you can revise on the move * Small tests – ask family members to provide you with questions from the books * Past Papers – these are essential in discovering what areas you are predominantly tested on as well as giving you challenging questions

ITEC BUSINESS STUDIES

The Skills taught by Teresa Rich included:

REFLEXOLOGY was the final module!

She was given 10 case studies to  treat 4 times each. This allowed Simonne to make connections and build trust with future fee-paying clients. She still treats some of them today!

Being meticulous with her  pape rwork prepared her to organize her case sties in detail.  This prepared her for a real life experience in the treatment she now does!

She also learned how Reflexology can be used effectively for medicinal purposes and how it can change people’s lifestyle. These include:

Simonnes Story in setting up a reflexology business.

After she received her distinction in Anatomy and Physiology, Business Studies and Reflexology.  Simonne decided to start up her own business.

6 sessions for the price of 5 (when booked as a course of treatments) – the benefits are usually more noticeable and the treatments are proven more effective when booked as a package.

Standard charges include £25.00 a session with a free consultation on the first treatment.

Though luxury treatments are also on offer for £30.00 – these include longer sessions, pampering and more advanced techniques.

This is a story of how Mary Atkinson, along with friends decided to set up their first FHT Support Group meeting in Chichester.

Below you will find some of the pointers of how she started the group and what motivated her!

It all started, whilst driving home from the Waterlooville Group one day, that Mary Atkinson had a lightbulb moment and decided to start her own group (with friends) in Chichester.

Within such a short space of time (2 months), the meeting was brought about.

HOW TO BECOME A CO-ORDINATOR

• Participate in groups around the country to familiarise yourself with the atmosphere and running of the groups
• Talk to other coordinators
• Gather a group of trusted colleagues for support who also express an interest in being a coordinator
• Prioritise organisational and plan everything to meticulous detail
• Delegating tasks and providing each leader with a role within the group is also very effective technique

 June 6th 2012 – Introduction to Chair Massage with Jing Institute of Advanced Massage

On-site massage has become increasingly popular in recent years as office workers experience problems such as migraine and wrist RSI’s. During this interactive workshop we will be looking at some tried and tested techniques and self help exercises that can be adapted for use on an ordinary chair. This workshop is suitable for all – no bodywork experience required.

August 1st Meeting – An International Celebration for FHTs 50th Anniversary

This evening we will be celebrating the international work of our members. We will share personal experiences, stories and advice from local complementary and beauty therapists who have volunteered their services abroad. Joint co-ordinator, Mary Atkinson, will host the session and begin by talking about her work bringing positive touch to the children affected by the Tsunami in Japan. Joint co-ordinator, Toni McGloin, will end the session by leading us in some story massage on each other. We’ve chosen an Olympic theme for the story massage to celebrate the international vision of health and well-being for all.

August: To celebrate FHT’s 50th anniversary, the support group are going to discuss and experiment with story massage also possibly tying it in with the Summer Olympic Games
